Questions

What is Attendance Allowance?

Attendance Allowance is a non-contributory Social Security benefit paid to elderly disabled people in the United Kingdom. It was introduced in the National Insurance Act 1970. You can claim Attendance Allowance for 57 different medical conditions. Some of these conditions include chronic pain, mobility issues, visual or hearing impairments, neurological disorders and cognitive disorders (such as a form of dementia like Alzheimer's), other conditions could be Asthma you've had all your life.

How much is Attendance Allowance?

From April 2024, higher rate Attendance Allowance is £108.55 a week, meaning £942 a month per couple if you both qualify for the same amount.

The lower rate is £72.65 a week, which equates to £629 a month per couple if you both qualify.

No tax is payable on this payment.

Is Attendance Allowance means-tested?

Attendance Allowance is not means-tested, so your income, pension, savings or investments will not affect your eligibility.

How do I apply?

You can apply for Attendance Allowance yourself; however, the complexity of the Attendance Allowance (AA) application process and form does discourage many from completing the claim - our estimates are that 60% of people are unsuccessful at completing the 30 page document and are refused.

Our Senior Support Analysts will assess your eligibility and then if appropriate help you secure this lifelong benefit, with no upfront fee. Should your application be successful we charge a fee of £450 inc VAT, which is likely less than your first back dated payment.

Why should I apply?

Many Seniors don't know they are eligible for Attendance Allowance, a financial benefit designed to support those who require additional help to live independently. This support could make a big difference in their day to day lives, easing financial burdens and enabling access to essential care and services, whilst alleviating a burden from families forced to step in as unofficial carers.
